How It Works?

Tylenol contains 2 analgesics, namely Paracetamol and Codeine. Paracetamol is an analgesic and antipyretic, while Codeine is a natural opioid analgesic. But, the way both drug acts on the body to reduce pain differs completely.

Paracetamol changes the way the body senses pain. It works by inhibiting the enzyme Cyclooxygenase and reduces the production of prostaglandins, which are usually involved in the pain and fever processes. Paracetamol is also known to enhance the pain relieving effects of Codeine.

Codeine is an Opioid analgesic. It binds with the opioid receptors present in the Central nervous system and the Gastro-intestinal tract and causes numbing sensation throughout the body and mimics the pain.
